OnePlus 5 does have a headphone jack, firm proudly says

Apple’s decision to remove the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 was received with mixed reactions by customers, but when it comes to partners and rivals, many of them mocked the Cupertino giant for ditching one of the most popular connectors on smartphones these days.

And this is exactly what OnePlus did a few hours ago when introducing the OnePlus 5, which is the company’s latest Android flagship that’s positioned as a direct rival to the iPhone.

OnePlus designer Diego Heinz poked fun at Apple during the press conference, not only by joking that the OnePlus 5 was super-close to launching without a headphone jack, but also by revealing a Twitter poll where 88 percent of the voters said they like the audio connector.

“On the bottom you’ll see that we ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack. The elegance of the overall design is instantly heightened. And who needs a headphone jack anyways? That’s why Bluetooth exists, right? Just kidding, of course the OnePlus 5 has a headphone jack,” Heinz said during the press conference.

iPhone lookalike

What’s more ironic, however, is that although OnePlus makes fun of Apple for pulling the plug on the headphone jack, the new OnePlus 5 looks a lot like the iPhone 7.

The back of the phone perfectly resembles an iPhone 7 and the matte black paint makes the two look like brother and sister. Furthermore, OnePlus has decided to install a dual-camera configuration on its model, again bringing the OnePlus close in terms of looks and features to the iPhone 7 Plus.

It remains to be seen if Apple does not agree with one of its competitors going for a design that’s so close to its own iPhone, but in the meantime, it looks like the OnePlus 5 is selling like hot cakes. Some of the versions that the company announced a few hours ago are already sold out, and there’s a good chance that the remaining units would become unavailable in the coming days as well.
