More invites will hopefully be available soon

It's been almost a month since Chinese company OnePlus revealed its “flagship killer” smartphone, but the OnePlus 2 is a very hard to come by device.

Just like the previous high-end smartphone launched by OnePlus, the new model only sells through invitations, which seems to be sparsely handed to customers.

If you've been among some of the luckiest persons in the world, then you have already received a OnePlus 2 invitation and already ordered the smartphone.

Unfortunately, in order to enjoy your newly bought handset, you need to have received it first. The bad news is OnePlus has just started to ship the first OnePlus 2 orders, and it will take some time until they reach their new owners.

OnePlus fans had a similar negative experience when the company's first smartphone was launched on the market, so one would think that the Chinese handset maker might have learned one or two things about that.

Apologies accepted. Now when will my OnePlus 2 arrive?

In a short statement on the company's official forums, OnePlus founder Carl Pei, apologizes for the company's botched OnePlus 2 launch. Here are his exact words:

“We messed up the launch of the OnePlus 2.

“Well, we messed up the launch of the OnePlus One as well. Although inventory levels ramped up eventually, months after the announcement, it was still extremely difficult to buy the device. We comforted ourselves to the fact that we were young, and that we’d learn and show the world we could do better next time around.

“With the OnePlus 2, we made rosy plans. We were more confident, and prepared a lot more inventory. We told our users it would be 30-50x easier to get invites, and they needn’t worry. Yet, we only began shipping in meaningful quantities this week, nearly a month after our initial targeted shipping date. You can talk all you want, but in the end, flawless execution speaks much louder than unfulfilled promises.

“I’d like to apologize on behalf of OnePlus for the delay.”

This doesn't really mean that things will improve, but at least it's a slight consolation to hundreds of customers who ordered the smartphone and have yet to receive it.

Let's hope OnePlus will stop thinking about apologies and work more towards making more OnePlus 2 invitations available to customers and increase its the smartphone stocks.
