14 DAY TRIAL // OnePlus 2 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the second quarter of 2015, right beside the Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s.
Yesterday, we told you that the phone would go on to benefit from a new and improved invite system which will make it easier for customers to get into the possession of a OnePlus 2.
While we know for sure that the OnePlus 2 will be coming out towards the end of the month, the company’s CEO Pete Lau has just revealed during an interview with Romanian publication Adevarul that the company has another smartphone in the pipeline that should be released this year.
You might remember that, last year, rumor surfaced that OnePlus was working on a mini version of its OnePlus One smartphone. A bunch of leaked images confirmed the information, but since then we haven’t seen anything materialize into this direction.
Could a mini version be in the works, too?
Some specifications of the purported phone also leaked online, revealing that the OnePlus One Mini might arrive with a 5-inch display, Snapdragon 615 processor on the inside, and two 8MP cameras (back and front).
Mister Lau didn’t talk that much about the device in his interview. He just said that the company “has another phone planned for this year, but will provide details soon.” So in all possibility, the OnePlus One mini or OnePlus 2 mini might get some primetime.
Or maybe OnePlus is prepping a new device altogether, we can’t tell for sure at this point.
While we wait for the company to make an announcement regarding the second smartphone it will unveil this year, this seems a good moment to remind you that the OnePlus 2 is expected to make a debut with a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset in combination with 4GB of RAM.
The handset will also benefit from a fingerprint scanner, which is a first for the company. OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau also promised fans that the OnePlus 2 would be priced under $450 / €408. Although he was probably talking about the base version, and the 64GB model will end up costing more.
