Chinese company OnePlus just announced its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roadmap for its current devices. The first to receive the update will be OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, but that won't happen until next year.

According to OnePlus, Cyanogen OS will be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for OnePlus One sometime in the first quarter of 2016.

Moreover, the company also confirmed that it developed a community build of OxygenOS for the OnePlus One, but this isn't the final version that comes preloaded on the smartphone.

When the time allows it, OnePlus promises to update the community build of OxygenOS for the OnePlus One.

Furthermore, OnePlus 2 will receive the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade in Q1 2016, but OnePlus will reveal an exact release date later on.

Three OnePlus smartphones will receive the major update next year

We do know that the update will include the new standard Marshmallow API for the fingerprint sensor, which is one of the most requested features by OnePlus 2 owners.

“We’ve heard requests for us creating an API for the current fingerprint implementation in OxygenOS, but have decided against this since we’re switching over to the standard Android M implementation soon,” explains OnePlus in a blog post.

Last but not least, the Chinese OEM confirmed that it's working hard to bring Android 6.0 Marshmallow as soon as possible to the OnePlus X, the latest smartphone launched by the handset maker.

More details on when Marshmallow will arrive on the OnePlus X should emerge in the coming weeks. In the meantime, OnePlus suggests owners to look for new OxygenOS update that the company plans to roll out soon.

So there you have it, folks, the first Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades for OnePlus devices will arrive no earlier than Q1 2016. Hopefully, they will be as bug-free as possible.
