OnePlus is surely working on a successor to its OnePlus 3T phone, which the company launched late last year. Some details about the upcoming OnePlus 5 have surfaced online, revealing specs and design elements of the new phone.

The upcoming OnePlus 5 will adopt a design element that has been making its way to numerous flagships out there. FirstPost reported that the upcoming OnePlus 5 will have a dual-edge display, similar to the Galaxy S7 edge.

The phone is also rumored to come with powerful rear and front cameras - the main sensor would have a capacity of 23MP, while the selfie snapper might reach 16MP. When it comes to RAM capacity, OnePlus 5 could impress with 6GB or even 8GB, but that remains to be seen.

256GB of internal storage and a ceramic body

The report also mentions that OnePlus 5 might come with 256GB of internal storage, enough for storing various pictures, videos and other content. When it comes to materials used for the phone’s body, the report says that OnePlus 5 might feature a ceramic body, just like the one on Xiaomi Mi Mix. This would give the phone a premium feel and make it more appealing to customers.

It’s unclear which chipset will be powering the upcoming phone. If OnePlus decides to go with the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC, then the company will schedule a release later this year, when the chipset is made available.

OnePlus could also equip the new phone with last year’s SD821, but considering the rumored upgrades in design, RAM capacity and internal storage, the company will most likely integrate the SD835 in its new flagship.

Take the information with a grain of salt, as nothing about the OnePlus 5 is certain at this point, not even the phone’s name. Rumors say that OnePlus intends to skip the "4" moniker for its upcoming flagship because the number is considered unlucky in China.
