A switch to Quad HD panels might be in the cards too

Since OnePlus released its first flagship more than 2 years ago, the Chinese company has used only the latest technologies inside its products. There's no reason for OnePlus to change pattern now, so we expect the OnePlus 4 to include the best SoC (system-on-chip), display, and camera that will be available next year.

OnePlus focuses on releasing just one flagship smartphone per year after the OnePlus X fiasco. This year, the handset maker launched the OnePlus 3, but managed to cope with the high demand for its flagship. The OnePlus 3 uses an Optic AMOLED panel, which is slightly different from the standard AMOLED displays included in other smartphones.

It's OnePlus' take on AMOLED displays and probably one of the reasons the OnePlus 3 had some shipping delays in the past. Even so, the Chinese company isn't willing to drop the Optic AMOLED in favor of another, more traditional display.

However, there's a slight chance that OnePlus 4 will come with an upgraded Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display. The company's current flagship sports a full HD (1080p) display, which many consumers find more suitable due to the large amount of energy a Quad HD screen eats.

There will be no half measures with the OnePlus 4

OnePlus always launched its flagship smartphones during the summer, so the latest rumors coming from China and claiming the OnePlus 4 will be revealed in June/July 2017 are not really a surprise.

The same source states that the OnePlus 4 will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 830 SoC, which could be the same powering Samsung's Galaxy S8. If the chipset is launched next year, we can safely assume that OnePlus 4 will pack one under the hood.

There are still quite a lot of other specs that remain a mystery for the time being, but one thing is clear: there will be no half measures when it comes to the OnePlus 4.
