In a strange turn of events, OnePlus announced its new flagship smartphone, which comes with very few improvements over the current model. The good news is the OnePlus 3T won't be as expensive as we would have expected.

According to the Chinese company, the OnePlus 3T will be available for purchase for just $439, a mere $40 more than the standard OnePlus 3 model. The new flagship will hit shelves in the United States on November 22, while Europeans will be able to buy it beginning November 28.

Since Qualcomm and OnePlus have already confirmed the 3T will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, it's no surprise that the phone does indeed pack this powerful CPU.

However, previous rumors claimed the OnePlus 3T would feature a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with an improved Sony IMX398 sensor, but the Chinese company decided against it.

The new flagship comes with the same Sony IMX298 sensor that's been included in the OnePlus 3 as well. OnePlus notes that the 3T's camera is protected by sapphire glass and offers an improved video recording experience.

Another upgrade over the OnePlus 3 model is the front-facing camera. While the previous model packs an 8-megapixel camera in the front, the OnePlus 3T boasts an amazing 16-megapixel front-facing camera that features a Samsung sensor.

Although the OnePlus 3T comes with the same amount of memory, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, there will be a 128GB model that costs $479. Furthermore, the smartphone sports a similar 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, so there's no upgrade here either.

Last but not least, the OnePlus 3T is powered by a slightly larger 3,400 mAh battery and runs Oxygen OS based on Android Marshmallow.

In comparison, the OnePlus 3 ships with a similar OS version, but packs a smaller 3,000 mAh battery inside.
