The update is based on HydrogenOS meant for Chinese phones

Good news for OnePlus fans, as the team that's handling the software updates has just released a new Android 7.1.1 Nougat beta build. Unfortunately, the update is based on HydrogenOS, which means it's meant for the Chinese versions of the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

In fact, those who prefer OxygenOS over HydrogenOS should refrain from updating to this Android 7.1.1 Nougat beta build.

It's worth noting that the same team that releases HydrogenOS updates is in charge with OxygenOS as well, so we might see Android 7.1.1 Nougat beta on the global versions of OnePlus 3 and 3T sooner than expected.

If your OnePlus 3 or 3T smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat based on HydrogenOS, then you can now download this beta build, which weighs in at 1.32GB. The update is rolled out OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a while until it reaches all devices.

As for the changes the new update brings, it's worth mentioning OnePlus has included the latest March security patch, which hasn't even been released by other handset makers.

Among the other changes included in the update, OnePlus mentions support for notes syncing, as well as the option to set pictures captured with the phone's camera as wallpapers. You can even set the wallpaper to change automatically on a daily basis.

Many improvements to the Gallery have been implemented as well, such as the option to filter the photo collection by year and month. You can even filter the pictures based on the location where they were taken.

OnePlus also fixed low-resolution images that wouldn't display correctly when zooming in. The integrated picture editor got some new features too, such as the option to increase the color temperature and level of correction.

Also, some OnePlus 3 and 3T users also confirm that the touch latency has improved in Android 7.1.1 Nougat, even though the change hasn't been mentioned in the official changelog.
