OnePlus releases new OxygenOS Open Beta versions

Based on the requests received from numerous OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners, OnePlus released on Tuesday new OxygenOS Open Beta versions that bring the highly-requested Face Unlock feature from OnePlus 5T.

Previously ported to OnePlus 5 devices last month, the Face Unlock feature is now available for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T models with the OxygenOS Open Beta 30 for the OnePlus 3 and OxygenOS Open Beta 21 for the OnePlus 3T, both released earlier to public beta testers.

The changelog for the new OxygenOS Open Betas for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T is quite jaw-dropping, as users will also get an updated launcher (version 2.3), along with improved usage tips for first-time users, as well as the ability to view new categories in the drawer when using the search icon.

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users willing to install these new OxygenOS Open Beta firmware will also get support for Airtel VoLTE in India, the OnePlus Switch application for backing up and restoring your settings, thus making it easier than ever for users to migrate their data to a new OnePlus device.

Among other improvements and optimizations, the Clock icon is now dynamic, the blue notification dots that notify users about newly installed apps now gets automatically removed after 15 days, and newly created folders will now be automatically named based on their contents.

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners who want to try the new Face Unlock feature can follow these instructions (here and here) to flash the latest OxygenOS Open Beta update, which they can download right now from OnePlus. On the other hand, existing users need only to update their devices to the latest OxygenOS Open Beta release.

However, you should keep in mind at all times that this is beta software, which means that it might contain unresolved, known issues, such as the fact that the Airtel VoLTE feature may not work properly or that some third-party apps won't work at all.
