The handset should start shipping in Europe beginning today

The OnePlus 2 was announced a few weeks ago with bells and whistles as the “2016 flagship killer,” and finally the phone will be made available for purchase today. Although you will need to have an invite to be able to acquire one.

However, we have a bit of bad news for those of you who do have an invite but are based in North America. OnePlus has just announced that “due to production schedules,” its new smartphone will be shipped out to the US and Canada with a delay of 2 to 3 weeks. On the other hand, customers in Europe can rest assured that they will be receiving their handset on time.

So if you’re not on the old continent, it means that you will have to wait until the beginning of September to get your hands on the company’s newest achievement. The OnePlus 2 is available in two flavors: one with 16GB of built-in storage, which will cost you $329 / €300, and one with 64GB of internal memory on board, which will be sold for $389 / €355.

OnePlus 2 is a premium smartphone

The high-end smartphone has been announced with a large 5.5-inch LCD HD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and offers 1,500:1 contrast ratio.

On the back, the OnePlus 2 comes packed with a 13MP photo snapper that features large 1.3 micron pixel sensors, OIS (optical image stabilization), laser autofocus, and video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary 5MP selfie camera.

OnePlus is making use of the controversial Snapdragon 810, which it has modified a little bit in order to prevent overheating problems, but since the handset hasn’t made it out to users just yet, we can’t really say whether the tactic has proven successful or not.

The OnePlus 2 offers dual-SIM and 4G LTE support, but the startup has axed the NFC (Near Field Communication) option, because OnePlus One owners didn’t really seem to use it much. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C port, GPS plus AGPS and GLONASS.

Last but not least, the phone bundles a 3,300 mAh removable battery, but there’s no quick charging tech or wireless charging system.
