14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese company OnePlus launched a few Android smartphones this year and will probably do the same in 2016. The first device that will be debuted by OnePlus next year could be the mini version of the company's flagship smartphone, OnePlus 2.
Word about a possible release of the OnePlus 2 Mini leaked for the first time several weeks ago, but the Chinese company did not confirm any of the rumors running around among OnePlus fans.
Today, the smartphone has been spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, which confirms the OnePlus 2 Mini is real and that it might be officially unveiled very soon.
Since we're less than a week away from Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016, it would make sense for OnePlus to announce the smartphone at the trade fair, but we don't rule out a dedicated event where the OnePlus 2 Mini will be launched.
Moving on to specs, the listing at TENAA confirms the OnePlus 2 Mini sports a 4.99-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.
Just like the standard version, OnePlus 2 Mini will be powered by a 64-bit 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.
Also, the smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
It comes with Android 5.1.1, but Marshmallow might be released soon
At the back, the OnePlus 2 Mini is expected to feature a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording while in the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
Other highlights of the OnePlus 2 Mini include 4G LTE support, along with 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C port, and GPS with AGPS support.
Last but not least, OnePlus 2 Mini should come preloaded with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but we suspect the Chinese company will upgrade the smartphone to Marshmallow OS in the coming months.
