If you want a One Plus 2, now it’s the time

The OnePlus 2 smartphone has been around for a few months now, but getting your hands on a handset is not an easy task. Just like the previous high-end smartphone launched by the OnePlus, the new model only sells via invitations, which are still handed very sparsely to interested parties.

Seeing their customers’ level of frustration rise, OnePlus founder Carl Pei apologized personally for the botched release of the phone saying that they “messed up the launch of the OnePlus 2" not so long ago.

Carl Pei mulled over the failure so much that at some point he claimed in a blog post he would like to learn more about how the smartphone business worked by being an intern at Samsung, a company that managed to remain on top of the game for years.

OnePlus is hosting an Open Sales event for OnePlus 2

To make up for all the woes, OnePlus has announced it has decided to hold an “Open Sales” event for the device, which they have scheduled for October 12. Customers around the globe will be able to participate in the sale, but you’ll have to be careful about the shifting hours:

Asia - 12:00-13:00 HKT

Europe - 12:00-13:00 PDT

North America - 12:00-13:00 IST

Interestingly enough, October 12 is the same date when OnePlus has scheduled a press event in India, where we suspect the device maker will unveil the recently confirmed OnePlus X. The phone will be a budget affair, so it does make sense for the device maker to be looking to launch it on the developing Indian market.

As for the OnePlus 2, this is the company’s current flagship which arrives with a 5.5-inch LTPS LCD display with support for 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and a Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood.

The handset is offered in two versions, one with 3GB of RAM/16GB of internal storage and the other with 4GB of RAM/64GB of non-expandable storage inside. The phone features a 13MP camera on the back, while a 5MP snapper can be found up in front.

Android 5.1 Lollipop is the operating system on board with the company’s own Oxygen OS 2.1 on top. The OnePlus 2 takes advantage of a 3,300 mAh battery pack to keep everything running smoothly.
