Starting in March 2016, One Direction will be going on a short hiatus that, the 4 remaining bandmembers promise, won’t spell the end of the group. Before they go away, though, they might deliver their biggest performance to date, as they’re being considered for the Super Bowl Halftime show.

The February 2016 Super Bowl will also mark the 50th anniversary, so NFL bosses are thinking of putting together a show that fans won’t be able to forget. Of course, that also includes getting the perfect performer for the Halftime show and they believe they have narrowed down the list of possibilities to 3.

For the time being, a new report cited by AceShowbiz says they’re in negotiations with One Direction, Coldplay and Bruno Mars. Bruno also performed at the 2014 show to very warm praise from the millions of viewers at home.

The special anniversary issue would include a “pop and rock mashup,” the report says. “NFL bigwigs want a one-off show that will be remembered and garner the greatest audience figures ever. Obviously the 12-minute half-time show will be worth millions in revenue, sales and downloads too,” says a spy.

Because One Direction already has a huge fanbase, the NFL might be able to monetize on it by offering One Directioners the biggest One Direction show ever… at the Super Bowl Halftime.
