One Direction continues to rule the charts as a 4-piece, after the release of new song “Drag Me Down”

Earlier this week, Zayn Malik officially and definitively moved on from One Direction by landing a solo record deal with RCA, but his former mates aren’t the worse off for it. Less than 24 hours ago, they released their first song as a 4-piece, “Drag Me Down.”

Not only that, but they also performed it live for the first time, much to the delight of their fans in attendance at their concert in Indianapolis.

You can see a short video of the performance (and the audience’s reaction) below, as it was posted to Twitter by one of these lucky fans.

“Drag Me Down” was released exclusively on Spotify and iTunes, but if you’re yet to purchase it and want to know what the fuss is all about, you can find a YouTube video of it below. It’s been getting glowing reviews from fans and the critics, who point out that it proves Malik’s decision to leave the band did not affect their balance as a group or their sound.

Meanwhile, in other One Direction news, the Daily Mail reports that “Drag Me Down” shot straight to number 1 in 82 countries, in less than 24 hours after release.

If there’s anything that proves that One Direction has not lost its magic touch even if it’s one member short since March, this is probably it.
