The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to launch in less than a month, and the South Korean firm uses the remaining days to fuel the frenzy and drops hints as to what we’re expected to get on the new phablet.

This time, the Samsung Electro-Mechanics, which is the company’s unit responsible for building the camera modules that are installed on Samsung phones, published a series of samples on its Japanese website that reveal a number of features expected to go live on the upcoming Note 8.

Titled “highend camera module,” these samples confirm that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will indeed come with a dual-camera configuration similar to the iPhone 7 Plus, but also indicate a number of software tools that will enhance their performance to new levels.

For example, the samples point to two features called Depth Application and Refocus, which are most likely tools to add depth-of-field effect to pictures, which is more widely-known as the blurred background. The refocus could enable focusing a different object after taking a shot, which means that should your shot go wrong because of bad focus, you might be able to fix that without taking the photo again.

3x optical zoom

Then, Samsung reveals that the dual-camera configuration will support up to 3x optical zoom, so the Note 8 will feature a substantial upgrade over the 2x level offered on the iPhone 7 Plus.

Samsung compares the 3x optical zoom with the 3x digital zoom, revealing not only that users can get sharper shots with fine details, but also that the new telephoto lens can retain the natural colors.

There are also two extra features called Perspective View and Background Effect, which will most likely enable users to add various effects to their shots to adjust the background, despite the focus being on a different object. And of course, the Note 8 will feature a so-called Super Night Shot that will take clear photos even in low-light conditions.

The Note 8 is projected to launch on August 23, but some flagship features, like stereo or mono speakers, are yet to be disclosed.
