Even though the relatively new mobile platform is represented on the market by a single smartphone, the Samsung Z1, it looks like these companies thought it's worth their time and resource to bring their apps to Tizen.
Beginning this week, those who own the Samsung Z1 can download and install the official Facebook Messenger and Instagram applications via Tizen Store, TizenExperts reports.
As mentioned earlier, the new releases don't come as a surprise, though it's nice that they have been launched just one month after they have been reportedly in the works.
According to the cited source, in order to be able to use Facebook Messenger, you will need to download the application, which is about 25MB in size, as well as Facebook Service, which is another 29MB download.
On the other hand, Instagram for Tizen OS is very light at just 9MB. Developers have released version 7.0.0, which is the newest iteration even in the test lab.
Samsung was very fast in bringing these two popular apps on Tizen
If we are to compare the time it took Samsung to bring Instagram to Tizen OS and how long it took the application to arrive on Windows Phone platform, you will notice there's a high discrepancy.
The beta version of Instagram made it to Windows Phone about two years ago, while a native version was available several years after the launch of the OS.
Samsung managed to bring a native Instagram app for Tizen OS only several months after the first smartphone, the Z1 made it to market.
That clearly indicates that the South Korean company is committed to the new OS and plans to launch more devices and more apps in the coming months.
Make sure that you have a Samsung Account before attempting to download Facebook Messenger and Instagram for Tizen OS, otherwise you won't be able to access the Tizen Store.
