Everyone’s expecting Microsoft’s new Lumia flagships, which are projected to see daylight for the first time on October 6, but in the meantime, the software giant’s working on more devices that would complete its overhauled phone lineup.

Lumia 550 is believed to be one of the devices that would appeal to those buyers looking for an affordable smartphone with decent capabilities and press photos that got leaked today confirm some of the specs that we already knew.

First and foremost, it’s worth mentioning that these photos show a lineup of four different colors, namely red, black, white, and blue, similar to the previous Lumia models launched by Microsoft or Nokia.

Technical specifications

Although not yet confirmed, it’s believed the Lumia 550 will come with a 4.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1080 pixels. The rather small display is a sign that Microsoft is trying to keep the price of the device rather low, so some pundits claim that the Lumia 550 could be available for about $100 when it launches later this year.

As far as the processor is concerned, it turns out that Microsoft’s going for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core unit running at 1.2 GHz, which should be enough to support the standard activities, such as emails, browsing, and playing games. 1 GB of RAM will be there to run Windows 10 Mobile very smoothly.

Microsoft will launch the Lumia 550 with 8 GB of internal storage, but a microSD card will also be offered, so you can expand it up to 128 GB.

As far as the release date is concerned, nothing is certain right now, but October seems to be a good month for new Microsoft devices unveiling, so expect it to see daylight very soon, most likely before the holiday season, which is the proper timing to help the company register increased sales.
