We might not yet have an official launch date or a clear price for the coming Oculus Rift virtual reality platform, but the team working on the retail version is ready to share the minimum specifications that gamers will need in order to be able to run content associated with it.

Nate Mitchell, who is the vice president of product development, explains on the Twitch stream from the Oculus Connect 2 conference that gamers will have to own a computer that has an Intel i5-4590 processor or equivalent with at least 8 GB of RAM.

When it comes to the graphics cards, the Oculus Rift will ask gamers to have at least an Nvidia GTX-970 or an AMD 290.

In order to make it easier for those interested in virtual reality to get the hardware that they need, the company is also working with a range of manufacturers on a new program called Oculus Ready.

At the moment, the involved partners are Asus, Dell and Alienware, who will use a special logo to show which of the PCs that they are selling are ready to work with Oculus Rift out of the box.

Prices for them will start at less than 1,000 dollars or Euro, and a variety of options will be offered for gamers.

Oculus Rift will launch with a number of video game options

The developers are also announcing that gamers will be able to pick up a virtual reality version of Minecraft: Windows 10 edition, which will allow gamers to use all the core mechanics of the series in a new way.

A number of other teams are also working with VR, but it's unclear how many of the titles will be offered when the Oculus Rift debuts.

The biggest problem at the moment is that the company is not ready to talk about the price of the device and the exact date when it will be available in stores.

Oculus Rift was the device that generated the new trend for virtual reality and was backed by a lot of people via Kickstarter before the entire operation was acquired by Facebook, even if the company says that it has no plans to interfere with the development of the tech for gaming purposes.
