System upgrades will be sweeter on September 15

Metal Gear Solid fans will rejoice seeing that NVIDIA will sell their game with the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The cards coming with the game will be GTX 960, 970, 980 or the top-of-the-line GTX 980Ti. These will have a free copy of Metal Gear Solid V packed in the box. Although it won’t be released until September 15, it’s the first proper version of the famous PlayStation franchise that will be launched on PCs.

Fortunately, the owners of the gaming notebook versions of the said cards, the GTX970M and GTX 980M, will also get redeem codes for Konami’s game. To increase their collaboration, NVIDIA’s engineers work tight at the moment with the Japanese company to implement G-Sync and ShadowPlay within the game prior to launch.

Success breeds success

This looks like a strong deal from Konami to increase its popularity among PC users following the success From Software had with their PC port of Dark Souls. Although being a financially sound move, it was a critical failure since the PC port was done in a hurry and forced the users to use a controller in order to properly control your character. I doubt Metal Gear Solid V will have the same issues, as the PC port will probably be made with much more care than From Software’s initial Dark Souls port.

Obviously, these are two different games from two different companies, but they do have in common a history of successful PlayStation franchises that went to PC after several requests from fans.

However, in case of NVIDIA’s marketing strategy it will not apply to every retailer. Overclockers UK website will offer a list of eligible products in case you plan to make a system upgrade in the near future.
