NVIDIA keeps things under a tight veil of secrecy

During a secret meeting in New York, a select group of journalists and members of the press witnessed the preview of a yet unannounced graphics card from NVIDIA. Apparently, there is a total secrecy in the media about this.

These sort of discreet meetings between NVIDIA members and some journalists aren’t really a secret these days, as they take place often when some new graphics cards are about to get launched. Usually, the attending journalists are briefed about the product's specs, they get to review some product sampling and get the planned release schedule. Obviously, all the attendees are bound by non-disclosure agreements until the embargo is lifted.

Clearly, nothing is known about the upcoming card, but we suspect it could be another stopgap model placed between the main leading cards coming from NVIDIA.

Another thing we can guess is that an eventual launch would take place rather soon, probably in the coming months, before the holiday season, as limited press briefings are usually part of a traditional NVIDIA process that precedes an upcoming launch of a graphics card.

This probably isn't a Pascal card

According to wccftech, the new upcoming card is apparently slated to be released on the market “soon” and was obviously presented to the select members of the press as “secret.” Surprisingly enough, there have been no photo leaks regarding the new card, so we suspect this could be quite an important device since NVIDIA kept such tight security around the new product.

Considering that NVIDIA's roadmap is pretty clear at the moment, and since Pascal GPU-based cards are slated to arrive most probably around mid to late 2016, it’s very likely that the new card will either be an intermediary version for existing top-tier cards, a mini-ITX version of the GTX 980Ti, or maybe another full-die version of a leading card for laptops. More details, however, will emerge when the first leaks hit the press soon.
