The smartphone is a concept for the moment

It looks like the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Mix was a good “excuse” for other handset manufacturers to start working on similar devices. ZTE's wholly-owned brand Nubia is said to be readying an interesting smartphone with very thin edges.

The phone doesn't have a name yet, but several pictures of the device have already been leaked from China. The Nubia bezel-less device is more of a concept phone rather than a prototype unit, but the source of the leak claims the device is already in the works.

Obviously, that doesn't necessarily mean that it will make it to the market, unless Nubia finds the correct recipe to make it a solid device, possibly much better than the Xiaomi Mi Mix.

Aside from the fact that it's an edgeless smartphone, it does come with a rather unusual form factor. The Nubia concept phone is a slider, so it remains to be seen how developers will find a way to prevent users from accidentally touching the screen while holding it.

Unfortunately, the pictures don't come with any details regarding the phone's specs and we prefer not to make any assumptions on the matter.

What we do know is that the phone will come with both USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack ports, which have been positioned on the bottom side.

There's also a fingerprint sensor on the back side, right below the main camera. The power button and volume rocker have been positioned on the right side, while the left side features the SIM tray.

The leaked concept phone is not Nubia's foray into the world of edgeless smartphones. The Nubia Z11 is a great-looking phone with very thin bezels and near stock Android version installed.

It's a bar phone, not a slider, so making a clamshell bezel-less smartphone could be more challenging for Nubia. We'll be watching this one closely and will update you with any interesting new information, so stay tuned.
