The NPD Group is saying that the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony has once again managed to lead hardware sales for the month of July in the United States, while LEGO Jurassic World was the best-selling title in the video game space.

The company says that the video game industry has managed to generate solid sales during the tracked month, delivering an increase of 6 percent when compared to the same period of last year.

The NPD Group says that the PlayStation 4 has managed to move more units to gamers than both the Xbox One and the Wii U from Nintendo, but there are no clear numbers for each of the platforms, although it seems that Microsoft's device has sold somewhere around the 190,000 mark.

For all the devices, the current sales rate is better than for the previous home console generation at the same time during their life time.

Liam Callahan, an analyst, is quoted by VentureBeat as saying that "After 21 months, combined Xbox One and PS4 hardware unit sales are close to 50 percent higher than the combined sales of Xbox 360 and PS3 after 21 months on the market."

The 3DS is also continuing a solid performance on the United States market.

When it comes to video games, new July titles managed to post a decline in the value of sales of about 3 percent, but titles that were first introduced during the previous months have compensated for that.

When it comes to the video game sales, LEGO Jurassic World has managed to take number one, mostly because it is associated with the movie of the same name.

Gamers who pick it up can explore all the films in the series, using a wide variety of characters including dinosaurs.

The rest of the top ten includes:

Batman: Arkham Knight - PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Minecraft - PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3
