The Nokia name is on everyone's lips these days since the Finnish company is expected to make some announcements related to the smartphone industry. In fact, the company that bought the rights to launch Nokia phones, HMD Global, will be the one to manufacture, sell, and advertise these devices.

Previous rumors indicated that the first smartphones in a long while to feature Nokia's logo would make their debut on the market just in time for the holiday season. At least two phones are expected to launch in late 2016, while the beginning of next year will see the debut of at least two other products.

However, new information has just emerged online, suggesting that HMD Global will kick off a huge marketing campaign for its products as early as 2017. This means that the Finnish company plans to launch its first phone only next year.

After a pitch that hasn't gone unnoticed, HMD Global has decided to choose Mother as its lead global agency. Both companies have already confirmed the deal and offered comments on the matter.

Nokia is a truly iconic, globally recognized and trusted brand. As the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand for mobile phones and tablets, our ambition was to find a like-minded agency who grasped both the opportunity and responsibility in bringing a new product range to market. We are confident that in Mother we have found a partner who can help us do so for a new generation of consumers around the world,” said HMD Global CMO Pekka Rantala in a recent statement.

The first project of the newly appointed agency is a global launch campaign for the next generation of Nokia smartphones and it is set to kick off in 2017.

Mother is one of the largest independent advertising agencies in the UK, having worked on important projects like “The Mom and Dad Bods Anthem,” an online organ donation registry campaign, as well as “Real is Rare” for Diamond Producers Association.
