Nokia has been in the news lately with its Nokia 6 mid-ranger which sold out in under a minute during its first flash sale. The company is expected to announce several Nokia smartphones this year, recent rumors talking about the upcoming Nokia P1 and Nokia 8.

On its official Weibo account, Nokia China reportedly confirmed a rumor saying that the upcoming Nokia flagship will run Qualcomm’s latest processor, Snapdragon 835. According to NokiaPowerUser, Nokia reps have said that the Android-running phone will take some time to come out and no approximate announcement date was revealed.

Nokia reps may be referring to the upcoming Nokia P1, which is said to be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. MWC 2017 starts on February 27 and ends on March 2, while many smartphone makers are expected to showcase their latest flagships during the event, including LG and Huawei.

Nokia 8 and Nokia P1 are in the works

Recent reports say that Nokia P1 will be incorporating the latest Snapdragon 835 processor and that the phone’s design will be inspired by Sharp’s Aquos Xx3. Moreover, the phone is said to come with a 5.3-inch IGZO display featuring a refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz and the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating on top.

6GB of RAM will be incorporated inside the phone, together with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Rear camera capacity might reach 24MP, while the phone is said to draw power from a 3,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 technology.

It all sounds quite exciting, especially since Nokia P1 might also have an Ultrasonic fingerprint reader and IP55 or IP57 protection against water and dust. The phone is expected to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

SD835 processor might be featured in the upcoming Nokia 8 as well. This model could have a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a 24MP rear camera with a 12MP camera in the front and 64GB or 128GB of internal memory. The two smartphones are expected to be announced soon.
