One of the most popular tablets available on the market, Nokia's N1 is now receiving the highly anticipated Android 5.1.1 Lollipop upgrade.

Although some might think that this is a bit too late since Google is readying the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, getting the Nokia N1 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is kind of mandatory as the Finnish company is now making the slate available globally.

For the time being, Nokia N1 is still only available in China and Taiwan, but the tablet can already be pre-ordered in Europe and other regions.

However, the first pre-orders are expected to ship from October, so it will take some time until the N1 conquers the world.

Anyway, as NPU points out, Nokia has been updating the N1 like crazy, adding new features and improvements, not necessarily related to Android OS.

The latest update delivered to Nokia N1 bumps the tablet's software to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and brings many improvements and new features.

New updates for many Nokia apps, other small improvements

According to the official changelog, the update should add a new “Navigation Icons” application, as well as “App Notifications” app.

The company's Z-Launcher application has been updated to version 1.2.5-Beta, along with “The Store,” which should be updated to version 3.31.

The Auto Start Manager version 1.6 is included in the update too, along with Sound Recorder 1.23 and Clock v4.2.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update should also add “power level” information on lockscreen, as well as “close all” function in recent apps list. Last but not least, upgrading to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop should improve Bluetooth connection stability.

For the time being, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is only available in China and is delivered OTA (over the air) to Nokia N1 tablets.

We expect the upgrade to reach Taiwan in the coming weeks, while those who pre-order the tablet from other countries should receive it with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop right out of the box.
