After fighting for survival under Microsoft’s umbrella, Nokia is back in business thanks to HMD, and the company is now trying to expand it Android phone offering to every possible price point.

The firm’s most recent model is called Nokia 8 Sirocco, and it pushes the Nokia brand to the upper premium sector, with a price tag that almost matches the one of the iPhone X.

First and foremost, what’s with the new Nokia 8 Sirocco? For this model, the company has decided to go all-in on glass, just like rivals Samsung and Apple on the latest-generation iPhones. As a result, there’s a glass front and back, with a stainless steel frame.

Just like on the iPhone X, this glass body allows for further features, so for instance the Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with wireless charging, though it goes without saying that glass also makes it looks super-exquisite.

Nokia 8 technical specifications

The Nokia 8 Sirocco features a 5.5-inch QHD pOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 and 3D Glass, which technically means that it boasts curved edges a la Samsung Galaxy S8.

Power comes from a Snapdragon 835 processor paired with no less than 6GB RAM, and the phone also comes with 128GB built-in storage. It features a dual-camera configuration with ZEISS optics - 12 MP Wide (2L7, 1.4um, 2PD, f/1.7, FOV 78.2") + 13 MP Tele (3M3, 1.0um, f/2.6, FOV47.3"), dual-tone flash, as well as 5-megapixel camera with 1.4um and display flash.

The 3260 mAh battery should provide one full day per charge, Nokia says, while also powering some extra features like Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and LTE Cat 12. On the other hand, the phone lacks stereo speakers and a headphone jack.

Nokia 8 Sirocco will go on sale in April powered by Android One and pricing will start at 749 euros in Europe, which at the currency exchange rates it translates to around $920.
