Two of the smartphones that might be revealed in February

There's much talk around Nokia's comeback to the smartphone market, but much of the information leaked online is confusing. Old images of Nokia prototypes have resurfaced and given new meaning, so we should be very careful when reporting about Nokia-branded devices that haven't been announced yet.

The latest details about upcoming Nokia phones come from China, which isn't surprising since more than 90% of the leaks are usually published in this country. It looks like NPU reports that a new set of images showing potential Nokia-branded smartphones have emerged in China.

In fact, there are two sketched images showing the long-time rumored Nokia D1 and the fresh Nokia E1. The former has often appeared in news about Nokia-branded smartphones, so if you're a fan of the Finnish company, you might have already heard of it.

The second one, Nokia E1, is a more recent device that we haven't heard of until now, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The overall design of the phones looks very similar, though we've noticed that the Nokia D1's corners are slightly rounded, unlike E1's.

The positioning of the front LED flash is another difference between the two Nokia-branded phones, and possibly the size and weight. However, we believe that both will belong to the mid-range tier.

The sketched images also reveal that the Nokia D1 comes with a physical Home button, but the Nokia E1 only packs touch sensitive keys in the front.

The Nokia logo is present on both devices on the front and back side, but they might have been put there for demonstration purposes.

HMD Global, the Finnish company that owns the license to release Nokia-branded smartphones for the next 10 years, has already confirmed its presence at MWC 2017.

The company is expected to announce at least one new Nokia-branded smartphone in late February at the trade fair.
