HMD Global has recently revealed that it intends to announce a set of new smartphones and feature phones by the end of the second quarter of 2017. One of those smartphones will be the high-end Nokia 9, rumored to incorporate powerful specs.

Recently, alleged sketches seemed to reveal the design of the upcoming smartphone and Concept Creator took the liberty to create renders based on the sketches. It’s worth noting that there’s no guarantee that HMD Global will actually feature such a design on the new Nokia phone.

That being said, the Nokia 9 pictured in the recent renders shows a very sleek design, with small bezels and an almost edge-to-edge display. The virtual dual-camera setup is visible on the back, together with squared-off corners that make the phone resemble the Nokia 6, at least in terms of overall shape.

Snapdragon 835 platform and 6GB of RAM

Nokia 9 is expected to feature a fingerprint scanner, possibly embedded into the display, considering that sketches didn’t reveal a physical home button in the front. Previous rumors claim that Nokia 9 might come with a 5.5-inch display with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution.

Inside, the smartphone could run the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, with an octa-core 2.5GHz CPU and Adreno 540 graphics processing unit. RAM capacity may reach 6GB, while the 128GB internal storage should offer enough space for saving files. The dual-camera setup on the back could have 22.1MP sensors, while the selfie snapper may use a 12MP sensor.

Nokia 9 is expected to draw power from a 3,800mAh battery, while the smartphone is said to run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. IP68 certification would ensure that Nokia 9 is protected against water and dust damages, while HMD Global could equip the premium smartphone with Nokia’s OZO Audio feature. An iris scanner and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4 fast charging technology are also tipped on the new phone.
