We’ve already known for a while that Nokia is working on a flagship phone running Android, and now a French website provides us with an early look at what could be the company’s Samsung Galaxy S8 rival.

Frandoid has managed to get some hands-on time with what’s believed to be a Nokia 9 prototype and some of the photos they were allowed to take finally reveal some features of the device.

First and foremost, it looks like the Nokia 9 will launch with a 5.3-inch display, though its exact dimension will be 5.27 inches, according to a CPU-Z screenshot posted by the source. The screen will have a 1440x2560 pixel resolution and will feature 557 dpi, with the source saying it boasts 530 nits maximum brightness.

An Always-On display option, similar to the one available on the Samsung Galaxy S8, will also be offered to see the clock and the recently-received notifications.

Snapdragon 835

The phone will be powered by Snapdragon 835 clocked at 2.46 GHz and paired with 4GB RAM. Nokia will offer 64GB of storage, but there’s a good chance that some other versions will also be available with more storage. A microSD card is also likely to be offered.

In terms of cameras, the Nokia 9 could be specifically aimed at the iPhone 7 Plus, despite the smaller screen, as it’ll feature a dual-lens configuration. The report claims Nokia will use two 13-megapixel cameras, together with a dual LED flash for better quality night shots. There’s no mention of a telephoto lens for the time being.

Nokia 9 will still feature a headphone jack and will support charging and transfers via USB Type-C. The phone will come with a front home button and there’s a good chance that it will also include a fingerprint sensor.

In terms of software, the Nokia 9 will run Android 7.1.1 and a launcher similar to the one used by Google on the Pixel is very likely.

Keep in mind, however, that this is a prototype and some features could change before the launch. As far as pricing is concerned, the phone will be priced somewhere in the region of $700.
