HMD Global announced today that it started rolling out the latest Android 8.1 Oreo software update to its Nokia 8 smartphone line-up, along with February 2018's Android Security Patch.

If you own a Nokia 8 Android smartphone, you might want to update it to Android 8.1 Oreo as soon as possible because it brings a bunch of cool new features, including a new Settings menu, battery-saving navigation buttons, a revamped Power menu, and Bluetooth battery percentage.

As expected, it also includes Google's Android Security Patch for February 2018. The update was made official today by HMD Global's Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas on Twitter, who said that Nokia 8 customers are now receiving the sweetest Android to date on their handsets.

Here's how to update your Nokia 8 to Android 8.1 Oreo

To update your Nokia 8 smartphone to Android 8.1 Oreo, you must access the System Update section in Setting and be connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. If the update is available for your region, it will appear as version 4.84A - Android 8.1 Oreo - weighing just over 1.5GB in size.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to update your Nokia 8 device over a 3G or 4G mobile network as it will only download if you have a Wi-Fi connection. Also, be aware that this is a big update, so it could take at least half an hour or so for the entire Android 8.1 Oreo operating system to be download and installed.

Nokia 8 owners are among the lucky Android users to get Google's latest Android 8.1 Oreo software update on their device, as not even Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ owners received it. We recommend updating to Android 8.1 Oreo as soon as possible as it also includes patches for the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities.
