The flash sale is limited to the Chinese market

Although it’s just a mid-range device, Nokia 6 is surely appealing to the market, or at least to consumers in China. The smartphone has reached 1 million registrations just two days before the flash sale begins at JD.com.

Nokia 6 will go on sale on January 19 for the very affordable price of just $245. About 24 hours after registrations went live almost a week ago, Nokia 6 reached a milestone of 250,000 registrations, but only 100,000 phones were pre-ordered.

Registrations are a way for companies to test the market’s interest for a new phone, as customers aren’t normally charged with anything when they register for a specific device. Consumers who registered for a Nokia 6 in China, however, were charged $9, but the sum will be deducted from the price of the phone when they purchase it through the flash sale.

Nokia 6 could be announced in other markets as well

The high number of registrations doesn’t necessarily mean that 1 million Nokia 6 phones will be sold, but the actual number of purchased units could be relatively close to this mark. With such a success in China, we see no reason why HMD shouldn’t release the phone in other markets as well. During MWC 2017, the company is expected to unveil another phone, the premium Nokia 8, while it might also announce availability for the Nokia 6 in Europe and the US. One can only hope.

Although not the premium phone that many would have hoped for, Nokia 6 does have some strong points like its 3,000mAh battery and 4GB of RAM. The phone comes with 64GB of internal memory, which can be expanded to 256GB using a microSD card.

It runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC and has a fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for dual SIM. One of its selling points is the 16MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and PDAF, as well as the 8MP front camera.
