A global version has been recently spotted in the wild

Finnish company HMD Global started the new year in full force. The announcement of the Nokia 6, the first Nokia-branded smartphone in a long while, has taken many by surprise.

Although we were promised a couple of Nokia-branded smartphones in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC), HMD Global announced the Nokia 6 during the weekend.

While that was a nice surprise for most Nokia fans, it was equally disappointing after we learned that Nokia 6 was a China-exclusive device.

The smartphone will soon be available for purchase in the Mainland for $245, and customers will be able to pick this one up via major retailer JD.com.

Prior to the announcement, the smartphone was spotted at Bluetooth.org with codename TA-1000. A second “Silver” version of the Nokia 6 received certification at TENAA just a few days ago.

However, a much different variant is now listed at Bluetooth and is clearly not another version of the China-exclusive Nokia 6. The unannounced model is codenamed TA-1003 and is likely to be the global version of the Nokia 6, NPU reports.

We don't expect too many differences in terms of specs, but obviously, the phone will be compatible with other network bands.

As many of you probably know by now, Nokia 6 is a mid-range smartphone that ships with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system right out of the box.

Many have considered the fact that the phone is equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor its main downside. Furthermore, HMD has decided to include a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

The Snapdragon 430 chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card).

On the back, the phone packs a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash, while in the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Nokia 6 is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging capability, and it comes with fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, and microUSB 2.0 port.
