Since it's powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor

It's pretty obvious that the Nokia 6 is in no way a high-end smartphone, even though it can compete with some flagship smartphones when it comes to camera features. So, if you're expecting HMD Global's first Nokia-branded smartphone to beat other high-end smartphones in performance benchmarks, you will be very disappointed.

Although the smartphone hasn't yet made its debut on the market, some have been able to get their hands on the Nokia 6 before its official January 19 release. Several benchmark results have been published on Weibo recently, the Chinese alternative to Facebook, and by the looks of it, they aren't encouraging at all.

Nokia 6 has scored 44,517 points in Geekbench, which is less than a quarter the score submitted by iPhone 7 users. The OnePlus 3T with its Snapdragon 821 processor inside scored around 160,000 points, while the iPhone 7 is listed with no less than 190,000 points.

These benchmarks prove, once again, that the Nokia 6 is aimed at the mid-range tier, even if it packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. It's the chipset that drags the Nokia 6 down performance-wise.

As many of you probably know by now, Nokia 6 packs a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, coupled with an Adreno 505 graphics processing unit.

These are nowhere nearly enough for the Nokia 6 to be able to compete with high-end smartphones like the OnePlus 3T, which comes with a latest-generation chipset inside.

If you plan on getting the Nokia 6, then don't expect top-notch performance in some games and apps. On the bright side, let's hope Android 7.0 Nougat has been perfectly optimized to work on the smartphone.

HMD Global is expected to introduce at least one high-end smartphone in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 trade fair. An additional mid-range Nokia handset might be announced too.
