Just in case you need to run Node.js in an enterprise setup

NodeSource, an international company dedicated to creating products for the Node.js ecosystem, is releasing today a new product called N|Solid which wraps the recently announced Node.js 4.0.0 engine with lots of enterprise-level features which the standard distribution doesn't include.

Although Node.js itself is an open source project, using it within large-scale business-class projects usually involves creating or using additional applications to help developers monitor their Node.js apps and the runtime itself.

Only a week after the Node team released its first ever stable version, NodeSource is now providing developers with a tool aimed directly at high-end enterprise deployments who cannot afford to mess around with dodgy open source software.

While true that open source is slowly becoming the de-facto standard for governments and private-owned companies, sometimes, a higher level of code quality is needed to ensure stability and security.

N|Solid will boost productivity in the Node.js enterprise market

This is where N|Solid comes in, providing extra features on top of the Node LTS release, which most tech and dev teams will love to have on top of their standard Node.js distribution.

The N|Solid platform will feature a runtime-integrated profiling system for keeping an eye on processes, allowing developers to take heap snapshots without making modifications to their apps' source, along with enhanced analysis tools for leveling performance issues.

N|Solid's introspection capabilities will provide insights into Node runtime processes, letting tech ops monitor Node-specific telemetry.

Additionally, the platform will also feature an extra security functionality, N|Solid implementing a policy-based security mechanism that watches over memory allocations, helping protect against accidental data exposures and keeping unauthorized code from accessing core system functions.

N|Solid will be aligned with Node.js releases

According to NodeSource, N|Solid will always be compatible and fully-aligned with recent Node.js LTS releases, a norm which the company aims to follow to avoid vendor-specific lockins.

N|Solid comes to expand NodeSource's current Node.js product line which includes N|Support, a premium support offering for companies working with Node.js, and N|Ship, a powerful tool to help build, manage and troubleshoot Node.js applications.

A free version of N|Solid with no feature limitations will be available for development use (license required for production use) at downloads.nodesource.com.
