Owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not be offered a chance to pre-load the necessary files for the game's first big expansion - Hearts of Stone - according to developer CD Projekt Red. The studio does confirm that a big patch, most likely update 1.10, is going to launch shortly before the DLC on October 13.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red has released not one but 16 different free add-ons for the already sprawling role-playing game ever since it released the title in May on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. These included new quests and missions, as well as gear, outfits, and even full-fledged features like the New Game+ mode.

Next week, the first premium expansion for the game, Hearts of Stone, is set to appear across all three platforms, more precisely on October 13.

No pre-load period for the new add-on

Now, after sharing the launch trailer for the DLC, the developer brings some more technical information for fans.

First up, according to the official forums, there will be no pre-load option for Hearts of Stone, not even on PC or on CD Projekt Red's own GOG platform. It's unclear just how big the add-on is in terms of file size, so those with limited connections might have to wait a fair amount of time on October 13 to transfer the DLC.

What's more, the studio also confirms that a major patch, probably update 1.10, is going to launch before the expansion releases.

Last but not least, also on the forums, the studio explains that it's still working on an update for the modding tools based on community feedback. However, it's been pushed back so that the new expansion and patch 1.10 can be completed as fast as possible, according to schedule.

So, as already mentioned, expect Hearts of Stone and update 1.10 to launch for The Witcher 3 on October 13 across PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
