His management is setting strict conditions for interviews

Tom Cruise has been making several appearances on TV to promote his latest film, the action packed “Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation,” but not one of them has included a single question of a more personal nature. The reason is simple: Cruise’s camp won’t allow it.

In fact, his management has issued strict conditions to all those who want an interview with him, which includes the complete absence of all personal questions. That means that no one is allowed to ask him about Scientology or about reports that he’s dating (and / or planning to marry) his personal assistant, The Wrap reports.

Tom Cruise wants focus solely on the movie

Celebrities rarely go to such lengths to censor interactions on camera, especially during a press tour for a new movie. Then again, Tom Cruise isn’t just any kind of celebrity: he is one of the biggest action stars of our times and he feels confident of box office success even without giving away anything of his personal life.

Whereas most celebrities will talk about rumors and even try to address older controversies in their promo appearances, Cruise wants none of that: he will not say whether he is or is not seeing his personal assistant, a 22-year-old woman said to look very much like his ex-wife Katie Holmes, and he will not talk about Scientology and the HBO documentary “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief.”

“Cruise’s camp enforced a strict ‘no personal questions’ caveat for access to the star, the individual said,” The Wrap says. Apparently, even Jon Stewart from Comedy Central had to play by the same rules and accept the ban on certain topics, even though a rep for his show claims that this wasn’t the case.

As you can see in the video below, he stuck to asking Tom about his workout routines, his hair and the “Mission: Impossible” franchise for the interview, though he’s not the one to back away from asking more challenging questions.

Tom has finally understood not to mix business with pleasure

This is definitely a step back from the man who jumped on Oprah’s couch because he was in love, who would get his girlfriend to his movie premieres so they could kiss on the red carpet, and who called Matt Lauer a “glib” in 2005, on live TV, for not understanding that Scientology could cure what anti-depressants failed to.

Since the Katie Holmes divorce in 2012, Tom has finally understood that it’s best for him not to mix business with pleasure, that is, his movie career with his membership in the Church of Scientology.

So far, it seems to have paid off. The most recent “Mission: Impossible” film, out in theaters worldwide today, Friday, July 31, 2015, has been getting very positive reviews, and feedback from the moviegoing audience doesn’t seem to have been influenced by his refusal to discuss more personal topics.
