14 DAY TRIAL // Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has just announced that insiders enrolled in the fast ring won’t be getting a new Windows 10 build for PC and mobile this week due to a bug the development team found in both.
Starting January, Microsoft has been releasing new Windows 10 builds at a much faster cadence than before, accelerating development of the operating system on PC and mobile devices and giving insiders the chance to try out new features as soon as they are ready.
Tricky bug discovered in both builds
Since then, new builds arrived pretty much every week, with a few exceptions when the Windows team came across major bugs that forced it to push back the release. This is what happened this time too, with Gabe explaining in a tweet that a “tricky crash” discovered in both the PC and mobile builds forced the company to hold back the launch.
“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news folks, but it looks like we will not have new builds this week for fast ring, for PC or Mobile. We’ve been chasing down a tricky crash in both. Have it sorted now, but will take a new build and time to move through internal rings,” Gabe Aul explained.
At this point, insiders are already getting preview builds of the upcoming Anniversary Update, so every single release is critical for both users and the company. While fast ring insiders are now projected to get a new build next week, not the same thing can be said about the slow ring, which can actually receive an update in the next few days.
Obviously, this depends on the feedback sent by fast ring insiders and the bugs the company manages to fix, but right now, it seems this week won’t be bringing anything too exciting for Windows 10 insiders.
