“A few more days” until the first release, it adds

Microsoft promised a plethora of Windows 10 builds starting January 2016, but the first release is still nowhere to be seen, and the community seems to be losing its patience.

Windows insiders hope that every day is the day and ask Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, on Twitter if a new build is finally ready for PCs or mobile. But the answer is, in most cases, one that made Aul very famous in the Windows community: “no new Windows 10 builds today.”

But now that Microsoft has promised to ship builds at a faster pace, everyone is eager to get their hands on updates as soon as possible.

Now starting work on new builds

And Aul says that a few more days are needed because the Windows team is now starting work on them after the Christmas and New Year holiday.

“We’ll have more frequent builds for Fast ring, but we haven't started flighting in the new year yet. We are all getting back in the office, getting new builds through internal rings, etc. A few more days. Once we actually *start* flighting in 2016, then we expect to see more frequent builds than last year,” Aul has pointed out.

The new and faster builds are part of the Redstone branch, which will bring us the first major update for Windows 10, due in the summer. Redstone will include extension support for Edge browser, which is currently one of the most awaited features for Windows 10 users, but also other improvements that will greatly enhance the performance and usability of the OS.

The next builds of Windows 10 are expected to include early access to such features, as Microsoft wants to get feedback on them before rolling them out to the public. It’s not yet clear, however, if the upcoming release will bring any big changes as compared to the previous one shipped in December or if the focus will still be on bug fixes and performance improvements.
