The company is focusing all resources on the NX

A new rumor suggests that the team in charge of hardware development is getting ready to end the production process for the Wii U home console before the end of the year, presumably because the company is focusing all its plans on the coming NX platform.

The information comes from Nikkei, the Japanese financial newspaper that has a solid track record when it comes to information about the gaming company, and it seems that some accessories are no longer being manufactured, and only the remaining stock will be offered to customers.

Nintendo is not commenting on rumors and speculation at the moment.

The fact that the Wii U will no longer be manufactured is a sign that the company is getting ready to make an official announcement and to release the NX device, which has long been rumored but has not yet been shown to the public.

The rumor also runs contrary to the official position of Nintendo, which says that it continues to have long-term plans for its current home console despite its relatively disappointing sales and that it also wants to continue to support the 3DS handheld for the foreseeable future.

It's unclear whether the company will continue to launch any kind of titles for the Wii U or if it plans to abandon it entirely.

The Nintendo NX will probably be the platform for the new Zelda

It's becoming pretty obvious that the Japanese company has decided to focus all its resources on the new platform, which rumors are saying will go into full manufacturing before the end of spring, with plans to launch it before the end of summer.

Nintendo has been saying that it might sell between 12 and 16 million units during its current fiscal year, which would be a solid number, given the current performance of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

If the Wii U is no longer manufactured and the NX is finally revealed, it's entirely possible that the delayed new Legend of Zelda video game will be offered on the new platform.

The title has been in development for a while now and is supposed to be the first entry in the series to use high-definition graphics while also implementing a world structure that offers players more freedom to explore and deal with challenges.

Nintendo might officially reveal the NX during the coming E3 2016, with full details about the price and the included capabilities.
