The fake controller has gotten some details right

After the controller that was supposed to be associated with the Nintendo NX was revealed as a fake, a new source has appeared to offer more details about the coming home console, although the public might be less inclined to believe the information that's being provided on the new platform.

On Reddit, a user who claims that he is an AAA video game developer says that he is working with a full developer kit for the device and has been putting a lot of effort into an experience for about six months. He thus claims to be preparing a title that should be available when the NX is first offered in stores, with a focus on Western audiences.

Apparently, the new console looks like a black box with no special features, with USB ports and a disc drive, and the controller is hardwired to it at the moment, although the final version might be more mobile.

According to the new info drop, the controller has scroll wheel shoulder buttons and two regular shoulder buttons called ZL and ZR, with a headphone jack on the bottom.

The source adds, "I don't know if the NX is backwards compatible with the Wii U or 3DS or not, but it doesn't look like it is. The system is different enough from both that I think it would be hard to play games from other consoles."

Nintendo NX might arrive this year or in early 2017

The Reddit thread explains that the controller is designed to be more dedicated to offering a companion app experience to the title running on the main screen and will not be replacing the 3DS.

The Nintendo NX is designed to be more powerful than the PlayStation 4 from Sony and will use an ARM architecture, with the developer kit fitted with a 1 TB hard drive and with 8 GB of RAM, although these elements might be changed for the consumer versions.

The screen on the controller is apparently 1080p, and the plan is to give gamers some ways to interact with their video games in innovative ways.

As always, there's no way to confirm the information offered by this new sources, and Nintendo is not ready to comment on the info in any way.

Rumors are saying that full manufacturing runs for the NX will be starting in Taiwan before the end of spring and that the company might make an announcement at E3 2016 and follow-up with a launch before the end of summer.
