So far, only the Nexus 6 has been compatible with Google’s recently created wireless carrier effort, Project Fi, but now that the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are out and about, things will change.

As soon as they are released, the two newcomers will become compatible with Google’s Project Fi. What’s more, customers active under the Project Fi umbrella are given a chance to finance the purchase of a Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P over 24 month.

That means that the entry-level Nexus 5X would amount at $15.79 / €14.52 a month, while for the most affordable version of Nexus 6P customers would have to pay $20.7 / €18 a month (as seen at Android Central).

You’re also given the option of paying off the phone earlier, if you happen to come into some cash and you want to settle the score with the search giant. Customers can purchase any color or storage option they desire through Project Fi.

Already a Google Fi subscriber?

If you are already a subscriber to Google’s wireless service, all you need to do is access the official website, click “Your plan” and look for the “Upgrade device” option.

In order to be a subscriber, you will need to have an invitation, as for the time being, Google can’t accommodate a lot of users. Project Fi is a hybrid carrier that allows users to make phone calls and go online using Wi-Fi.

In areas where Wi-Fi access is non-existent, the SIM card in the phablet will decide whether T-Mobile’s or Sprint’s infrastructure in the area is providing a better service and will connect to it.

And as soon as the two phones launch, users will be able to take advantage of these options by using their Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Some Project Fi subscribers have been complaining of the lack of variety when it comes to opting for a phone model; well, now their choices have been diversified.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have barely launched, so it might take a while before the phones start shipping to customers around the world. Nevertheless, it’s pretty good news to know they will be included in Project Fi along with financing plans.
