Nextbit has just announced that it will start shipping its cloud-oriented Robin smartphone on February 18. Although the company previously said it would begin selling the device on February 15, it looks like it has pushed the release for a few days.

The good news is Nextbit will ship the Robin in many countries, so as long as you don't have anything against Mint and Midnight color options, you will be able to get this one from the company's online store.

However, Nextbit will also launch an Electric color option later on. Robin will be available for purchase for $400, but you might have to pay for shipping as well.

Either way, that's a pretty decent price for a high-end smartphone that comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, but Nextbit is working to bring it to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the coming months.

Free 100GB cloud storage for life

The main selling point of the Robin, aside from hardware and design, is the cloud feature. Although the smartphone comes with 32GB internal memory, Nextbit also offers 100GB of free cloud storage for the lifetime of the device.

But this is not just to extend your cloud storage, as Robin features a unique ability that allows users to free up space on their smartphone by moving apps that are not often used to the cloud to keep them within reach.

The icons of the apps that you offload in the cloud will become grayed out, but you will be able to restore them by tapping the corresponding icon.

Even though this feature relies on Internet connection, Nextbit says that downloading an app from the cloud only occurs when Robin is connected to Wi-Fi or plugged in. Naturally, users can also choose to download apps using mobile data if they wish so.

Other specs of the Robin include a 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3GB of RAM, but no microSD card slot.

The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. Also, Robin packs a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash, and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front.
