Microsoft believed to be internally testing this version

Everyone’s expecting a new Windows 10 Mobile build, but the odds to get one today are really low, especially because the company doesn’t usually release new versions on Fridays, as collecting feedback and addressing encountered problems could take up the whole weekend.

And yet, more information on the version number of this possible next release is now available, with screenshots that have reached the web lately showing that Microsoft is internally testing Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.29.

Right now, it’s hard to tell whether this is the next release for insiders or not, but there’s definitely a chance to see it go live sometime soon for the fast ring.

RTM version

Back in November, Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.11, which everyone referred to as RTM, as there were signs that the company might actually choose this version for the general public updating from Windows Phone to the new OS.

Scheduled to begin in early December (which means that the go-ahead button could be pressed anytime soon), the Windows 10 Mobile rollout is likely to start with a different version, as some other updates have already been spotted online by Microsoft watchers.

Windows 10 build 10586.17 was initially expected this week, but the chances are that Microsoft is getting ready for a release on Tuesday or Wednesday.

As for the changes that are believed to be made with this upcoming release, don’t expect any big feature updates, as Microsoft is all about fixing bugs and improving general performance of the operating system. So yes, a new Windows 10 Mobile preview build is definitely coming, but only with fixes supposed to address the problems spotted at the very last minute and reported by users to Microsoft.

As usual, take these with a pinch of salt because Microsoft does not disclose version number and build release date, but there’s no doubt that a new version is just around the corner.
