Of all the television series that are being brought back on the air through “limited revival series,” perhaps “The X-Files” is the most anticipated of all. That’s saying a lot, considering how many of these projects are currently in the works.

It’s been 13 years since Special FBI Agents Mulder and Scully have worked on a case together, and the fans really want to know what they’ve been up to all this time.

As the new teaser from Fox shows (see video below), it’s a lot. But one thing that hasn’t changed is Mulder’s sense of paranoia.

“What if our work, the X-files, everything we’ve been led to believe in is a lie?” he asks in the new video.

With the teaser, Fox also released a new poster, which features a silhouette of Smoking Man and bears the tagline “Trust No One.” So yes, things are about to get really serious for this crime-solving duo come January, when the revival series premieres.

We already know that the series picks up at a moment when Mulder and Scully are broken up, but that they will eventually begin working together again. Scenes of Mulder looking disheveled are from before they re-team, while the moment when Scully flashes her badge and introduces herself to a stranger is, obviously, from when they start working together once more.
