Wileyfox silently pushes back its phone to Dec 18

Windows phone is often referred to as a doomed platform, with Microsoft itself admitting that no new features and hardware are planned for Windows 10 Mobile.

On the other hand, there are companies like Wileyfox that are trying to keep Windows phones alive, so when they announce new devices, diehard fans finally have a reason to stick around for a little longer.

Unfortunately, Wileyfox itself seems to have delayed its Wileyfox Pro with Windows 10 for two weeks for a reason that wasn’t disclosed, with the device now to set to be released on December 18 instead of December 4.

While nothing has been said about this delay, the official Amazon listing that allows customers to pre-order the device now points to mid-December as the launch date, with the same £189.99 price tag of the United Kingdom.

Shipping before Christmas?

The bigger question right now is aimed at the shipping times for the Wileyfox Pro, as there are concerns that a December 18 launch date could actually mean that customers might get the phone after Christmas.

And yet, it’s obviously very unlikely for the Wileyfox Pro to sell in so high numbers that the parent company wouldn’t be able to complete all orders before December 25. Windows phones have gradually lost their customer appeal, especially due to the lack of updates for Windows 10 Mobile, so the Wileyfox Pro will probably experience modest sales, to say the least.

Wileyfox, however, bets big on enterprises and positions its phone as a business-oriented device with “Windows 10 and all Microsoft services that are ready to go” and “5-inch HD display for documents, photos, and videos.”

It remains to be seen how successful the Wileyfox Pro will be when it goes on sale later this month, but judging from where Windows 10 Mobile is right now, don’t expect the device to break any record.
