After a pretty quiet week for Windows insiders, Microsoft is working to accelerate development of Windows 10 Redstone 2 builds and speed up the release cadence, with new builds likely to see daylight as soon as these days.

It’s believed that the planning phase of Windows 10 Redstone 2 is nearly complete, which means that Microsoft’s teams are very close to finalizing the initial stage of the next Windows 10 update and are now getting ready to begin work on actually making these proposed features come true.

While little is known about the new features that are expected to arrive in Redstone 2, the next few builds could come with several hints in this regard, especially because Microsoft will add them gradually to preview builds in order to collect feedback from insiders.

Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, promised that the Windows team would try to deliver a Windows 10 Redstone 2 build this week, but as it usually happens with this testing program, it’s hard to tell exactly when a new version could be released since bugs could always be spotted at the very last minute.

Public debut in 2017

Windows 10 Redstone 2 is projected to see daylight in the spring of 2017, so it’s very clear that Microsoft needs to accelerate development and ship new features to insiders as soon as possible. Redstone 2 is expected to bring features that weren’t ready for the first Redstone wave, also known as the Anniversary Update, and will come with increased focus on mobile devices.

Microsoft itself promised more cool things for mobile in 2017, and everyone expects Redstone 2 to bring them, but specifics and any other information in this regard are still scarce at the moment.

The next Windows 10 Redstone 2 build, however, is unlikely to include too many new features, as we’re still in the early days of the development process, but it shouldn’t take too long before they start showing up for insiders. For the moment, just keep your fingers crossed and hope to get a new build in the coming days.
