As we’ve told you already, Microsoft is working on a new Windows 10 Mobile cumulative update and the chances are that it’ll be released this week.

The new cumulative update will boost Windows 10 Mobile version to 10586.164 and will probably be focused mostly on fixing bugs and improving the performance of the operating system, so do not expect any new features in this release. But on the other hand, it’ll get us closer to the official launch of Windows 10 Mobile, which is now supposed to happen in March, according to new rumors.

It’s not yet clear who’ll get build .164, as the previous release, version .122, was only aimed at insiders enrolled in the slow and release preview rings.

The upgrade version of Windows 10 Mobile

Windows Phone users and insiders might recall that Windows 10 Mobile was expected to launch in December, according to information posted by Microsoft on a Facebook account. After missing this target, the release was moved to “early 2016,” with some people close to the matter suggesting the company was looking at January 12 as the date to bring us the new OS.

Then, it was late February, and new information published by Microsoft Mexico pointed to February 29 as the likely date for the arrival of Windows 10 Mobile. And here we are in March without the official upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Phone devices.

According to WinBeta, however, Microsoft is now planning to roll out Windows 10 Mobile this month, as February was never a target for the release of the new OS.

Obviously, the company hasn’t said anything about this loud and clear, pretty much because missing the deadline could create even more frustration in the Windows community, where some users are already jumping ship because of the long wait for the upgrade.
