Wells Fargo releases its official app for Windows phones

While some developers are giving up to Windows phones and prefer to concentrate on Android and iOS, others don’t want to leave users on Windows 10 Mobile behind, so they bring their applications on the platform either as universal apps or for a specific platform, be it PC or mobile.

Today, Wells Fargo has launched its official app for Windows 10 Mobile (it’s worth noting from the very beginning that this isn’t a universal app, so it only works on mobile phones), providing its customers with an easy way to access mobile banking services if they have a handset running Microsoft’s latest operating system.

Wells Fargo’s app comes with the majority of features you’d expect from a mobile banking app, including options to manage your account and view account balances, deposit checks using the phone's camera, view credit card transactions and manage rewards programs, and make transfers and payments.

Only available on Windows 10 Mobile

Furthermore, just like any other mobile banking app, Wells Fargo comes on Windows 10 Mobile with a retail banking store locator, so you can always find the closest office should you need one.

As far as security is concerned, you need to log in with your Wells Fargo username and password, and mobile data transmissions are provided by 128-bit SSL, with the company also offering the so-called Online Security Guarantee to make sure that your account is always protected. And obviously, the data you enter in the app is not stored on the phone, and nothing is collected by either Wells Fargo or Microsoft.

It’s worth mentioning that this application only works on Windows 10 Mobile devices, so you won’t be able to install it on models still running Windows Phone. Wells Fargo hasn’t said anything about plans to make the app universal, but the chances are that it has no intention of doing that, given the fact that a mobile banking app just makes more sense on a smartphone.
