It’s Patch Tuesday time, new cumulative updates also planned

Microsoft will release this month’s Patch Tuesday security fixes tomorrow and new Windows 10 cumulative updates are expected, including for the newly-released Creators Update.

Cumulative updates are particularly important for Windows 10 users because they bring computers fully up to date, and installing the latest version always includes all missing patches from a system.

Windows 10 Creators Update is also projected to receive new cumulative updates, after Microsoft pushed the go-ahead button on April 5 for users who wanted to upgrade their computers earlier using a manual download via the Update Assistant or the Media Creation Tool.

Furthermore, this is also the day when the Creators Update goes live via Windows Update, so the new cumulative updates will also be offered to users who complete the upgrade.

Flawless experience on Creators Update until now

The first Windows 10 cumulative update for the Creators Update was published last week and, for what it’s worth, it installed correctly on all systems, and we are not aware of any bugs or issues experienced before or after deploying it.

This is pretty important for Windows 10, as there were plenty of cumulative updates that failed to install or created other post-installation issues, but it looks like Microsoft has finally managed to offer a flawless experience for the Creators Update.

Since these cumulative updates will land on Patch Tuesday, they will also include security fixes that patch vulnerabilities in Microsoft products, in addition to other improvements and performance refinements for both Windows 10 and the installed apps. No new features are included in cumulative updates.

The cumulative updates will be released together with the other Patch Tuesday fixes tomorrow and users are recommended to install them as soon as possible, of course if everything goes smoothly for everyone. Reboots will be required to complete the install, and IT admins should keep in mind that work needs to be saved on all systems before starting the updating process.
