The Vivaldi team, through Ruarí Ødegaard, has announced the release and immediate availability for download of a new snapshot build for their Chromium-based proprietary and free web browser for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

According to the announcement, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.340.7 introduces a new feature called STFU (Silent Tabs For Users), which is an implementation of the well-known Mute Tab feature available in the Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome/Chromium web browsers.

"A few of you saw this in other browsers and requested that we implement it as well. As you know we value your feedback and are happy to try and accommodate. This is our initial implementation, so it just adds the basic feature but we are looking at ways to make this more powerful in the future," said Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and Testing.

Netflix support and HTML notifications are here

Additionally, the new snapshot build of Vivaldi adds the long-anticipated implementation of the Netflix support and HTML5 notifications. Of course, numerous bugs reported by users since the previous snapshot of the web browser have been addressed.

Mac OS X users are being informed that the Netflix implementation has a few glitches and needs to be improved in the upcoming snapshots of the Vivaldi web browser. Below, we've attached the entire changelog of Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.340.7 for those who are curious to know what exactly has been changed.

As usual, you can download the Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.340.7 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia. However, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version of the web browser, which means that it contains unresolved issues, and it shouldn't be installed in production environments where stability is of the essence.
